I moved to San Diego with my family from Sacramento, CA last summer.I taught Kindergarten through middle school for 12 years in both traditional and homeschool settings. I earned my B.A. at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo and then my Multiple Subject CLAD credential at San Francisco State with a Social Science emphasis. While teaching in Northern California, I continued to hone my skills by going through Youth Development and Highly Effective Teacher training. Through these trainings my focus shifted to a more individualized, student centered approach to teaching and learning while still building a collaborative community within the classroom. Wanting to learn more about Project Based Learning, I decided to move to San Diego to earn a Masters Degree in Teacher Leadership at the local High Tech High organization. I am very excited to teach Kindergarten this year at Phoenix Learning Center and look forward to designing real world projects with my students. In my spare time I can be found cheering my children on at their many sporting events. I also love to read and relax at the beach with my family. I am even known to get on a surfboard once in a while!
